Please note that we would like to remind all teams playing an Irymple Basketball Association (IBA) that the following rules apply:

Spirit of the game:

All teams must play in a way that they are following our moto of ‘spirit of the game’. This moto represents that it is a social competition and that all team members are to be treated fairly and the game is to be played with respect and fun. 

Mercy Rule (Mixed Social): 

The mercy rule is implemented to make the game fun for all. If a team is up over 20 points they are not allowed to defend past the yellow line. This rule should help those teams that are having trouble, gain some confidence in the skills of the game and ensure that everyone is having fun. 

Mixed Social Rule:

A male is not allowed to leave the ground when defending a female who is in the action off shooting. A male may still defend the action of a female shooting as long as feet remain on the ground and his arms are vertical.
